The Magic of Childhood

My 9-year-old-son still believes in Santa.

Although he has concluded that entry through the chimney is ridiculous...the back door is much more practical.

He is sure that the song "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" is because she opened the back door to put the trash out and there was Santa in the door and the mistletoe was hanging in the doorway- thus a kiss was required by Christmas law and somebody wrote a song about it.

He doesn't think that Santa will bring him Legos - so that is my job, "Elves don't make Lego Mom - a factory back East does that or is it China?"

I wonder how it will happen...when will the bubble will burst and he will acknowledge the truth.

Perhaps, my own craving for innocence allows me to find his belief so sweet. I want to savor this time and while I encourage Andrew to study things beyond his prescribed grade level - Santa can stay as long as he wants.

Thanks for reading - and I always appreciate your comments. I hope you have a most lovely Thursday - perhaps with a little childhood magic in it :)
