Open Water
The temperature last night fell to around -14 C/7F, and the Water of Leith froze over. Except for this patch by the Sandport Bridge, where all the birds (including one of the Little Grebes) were gathered as the sun rose.
The basement where I analyse the skeletons was Baltic, so I occasionally went up to the pavement outside and cleared the ice. It generally was taking me two good full swings with a mattock to get through to the tarmac, which soon warmed me up a bit.
Still waiting for our new PC, unsurprisingly; I am going to have to take a day off tomorrow to wait in for the delivery. Tragic :^/
