Undeserved reputation

A slippy visit to town and the River Ayr is partially frozen.The Auld Brig has been standing long enough to remember other harsh winters and the buskers and beggers that befriend it's busy path.
This black headed gull whose hood disappears in winter was also hopeful of a helping hand.I always feel the gulls get a bad reputation for doing nothing more than trying to survive.
While I was trying to decide which type of gull this was I came across this link in the RSPB website about Hunterston Power Station which is a few miles up the coast.Some may say it also has an undeserved reputation or a necessary evil. RSPB Hunterston Power Station
