Cookbook joy
This baby arrived today. It is the India Cookbook by the wonderfully-named Pushpesh Pant, a university professor who spent two decades collecting and testing the 1000+ recipes from all over India in it.
I'm jumping right in and making Khare Masale ka Gosht (lamb cooked with aromatic whole spices) and Heeng Jere ke Aloo (asafetida and cumin-flavoured potatoes) tonight.
In other news, the Mac hospital finally got back to us and confirmed a broken hard drive. Saying good-bye last week to about 11,000 photos, recipes and other writing has helped to soften the blow somewhat, but it is nevertheless still a huge loss for me.
Oh well.
