Frozen water

Today, still well under freezing, was much warmer than yesterday which was supposed to have been the coldest for nearly 50 years!

Sadly, Mr Reynard, cold and hungry, decided to make a meal of Wingeor our smallest hen and killed the other two as well so now we are henless. As farmers say "Livestock is dead stock" but all the same I shall miss the three little friends, they were great characters. Now we shall let their ground rest, dig up the nuisance weeds and wait for the spring until we buy some more birds.

On my way to food shopping I stopped again at the Woodland Trust plantation nearby and saw the pond was frozen over. It is difficult to believe that today is warmer than yesterday glancing at those wintry colours.
