Gifts of Grace

By grace

Hello!

Well, well look who's ventured into the garden searching for insects in the nooks and crannies with that great beak. It's the curlew I first recognised a couple of weeks ago.

I was woken this morning, rather deliciously, by a ship's foghorn sounding so loud I could feel the vibrations in my bed. It's a haunting, comforting sound from childhood when I would sleep and wake to the flash and boom of the Cloch Lighthouse. The fog never really lifted today though there were odd, ethereal changes in the light, once the mist broke to reveal a great V of geese flying north west. A wonderful day for nature.

Again, this is a colour photograph taken in a rush of excitement at this unexpected visitor, through salty windows with all the light there was. At least this convinces me the visit was not a dream. It's been a dreamy kind of day.
