Cabbage Tree Flowers

Cordyline australis

My signature cabbage tree has a halo of flowers- nine panicles, no less. This is the most it has ever had. You can see only eight, but I couldn't get an angle that included all of them.

Also in the tree is a rowdy house sparrow nest full of hungry chicks. It shows up in large. The blue sky looks wonderful, but it didn't last long.

Update on the thrushes I was awakened by thrush song this morning. They are feeding on the lawn and showing an interest in the white viburnum bush, which is low and very thick, and not cat proof. They would have been better above the verandah entrance.
