Day 339 of 365

Visited my Grandma today. It's a roller-coaster of emotions visiting my grandma. Having pretty severe dimensia, my grandma swings through moods of complete cheerful bliss with singing of nursery rhymes, all the way to a near emotional breakdown.

Leaving was the worst. Apparently the roughly three hours we were visiting her in her place at assisted living was long enough for her to completely escape reality and time. By the time we were ready to leave, she had no idea we were in her place that she's lived in for over a year. Despite having pictures of her and her kids/grandchildren all around, she nearly broke down in tears because she thought we were abandoning her. I nearly lost it myself.

I unfortunately have two grandma's suffering from opposite types of illnesses. One is very sick mentally, the other physically (currently in the hospital). At this point, I can't decide which is worse. :(
