Première
"All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you." - Walt Disney
This photo may be a bit grainy but it means a huge amount to me...
More than three years in the making, two nativity plays and one Film School later, today say the premiere of the movie I wrote and produced - Beverleyhem.
I did it for two reasons... the first I wanted to give the young people I work with every day the chance to enjoy, achieve and contribute in an exciting creative activity. Beverleyhem is the result, a unique project, the scale of which, has not been attempted before!
Secondly, according to a recent poll carried out for BBC?s Newsround, only 44% of 7-11 year-olds regarded Christmas day as a celebration of the birth of Jesus. I found it sad that a message of love, hope and peace was being lost behind a commercial mess of tinsel and presents. As a Christian, I wanted to unpack the Nativity story and bring it to life for a new generation.
Whilst Beverleyhem has been a lot of hard work, it has also been one of the most enjoyable things I?ve ever been part of. The children, parents, staff and church have been fantastic and made this an unforgettable experience for me.
