The Boy on the Bank
A great hangover reducing walk along the banks of the river this afternoon with Euan in tow.
One of the reasons I'd headed off down there was due to a tip off by a new acquaintance who'd mentioned there was a lot of ice floating down the Forth just now. I've never met 'Riverman' before (his blipfoto name) but serendipity played her card today as the stranger walking towards us along the river bank turned out to be the man himself. He recognised me first (the camera around my neck and various shots he's seen of me on here helping I think) and he turned around to accompany us on our walk to spot the ice. As he keeps a boat himself down at the nearby Alloa harbour he was well clued up on where the best shots would be but, unfortunately, we'd missed the worst of it (a better organised blipper did get in a very good shot of the ice earlier though) but we did get a few good shots in as we chatted about all things rivery.
It was really good to meet Riverman and he's very kindly offered us a jaunt on his boat down the river to capture some pictures from there which we're looking forward to. He's really enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Forth and also dead keen on photography. The one stumbling block he has with that side of things though is he doesn't have a camera. Maybe Santa will be good to you Riverman...
Cheers for the chat!
PS: If you go LARGE you can see some of the river ice.
