On a mission!
Jess & Molly clearly think that something's afoot.
Sure enough, just a few moments later, a pheasant started cackling in the next door garden. At the time, I was trying to pose JML for a side-by-side shot (quite rare) - but they were off instantly to track down the source of the noise.
We used to have a lot of pheasants in our garden, but that was pre-Jess. She caught and killed at least two that we know of, and the pheasants soon learned not to come to us. I imagine that their maps were marked here be monsters.
Once she came to me with a pheasant in her mouth. I told her to drop it, thinking that it was already dead. But when Jess did as she was told, the pheasant managed to hirple away and even take off - albeit a bit groggily! On another occasion, when Jess was out with Mrs jml in a nearby field, she caught two pheasants, one with each paw!
Luckily, Jess has not had an opportunity to catch one for a long time; Molly has never had the chance. But it has not stopped her chasing the cackles when they occur.
