Spirit of Scotland

We had a fantastic evening out at the Spirit of Scotland Awards. This was the view across our table, with a bottle of Glenfiddich - the event sponsor - encased in ice on each table.

It was originally meant to be held at Prestonfield House, but was moved at the last minute to Mansfield Traquair Hall after part of the roof on the stable block at Prestonfield collapsed due to the snow. I think it made for a better event as Traquair Hall is a fabulous space with wonderful murals.

Our table included two people who were up for an award. Scottish harpist Catriona McKay, a fantastic musician playing solo and in groups (www.myspace.com/catrionamckayharp/music is a good place to start) and Dougal Sharp, who set up speciality beer company Innis & Gunn. They were interesting and fun people to spend the evening with.
