The London Ice Cream Parlor
Another photo from Historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah, USA where I work. At the top of the building is a plaque identifying it as the London Ice Cream Parlor. I have no idea where the name comes from. It certainly is nowhere near London, and it's questionable that it ever was an ice cream parlor. The surname of London is somewhat known around Ogden, and one of the most famous of the "madams" on 25th Street was Belle London, so it may have something to do with that. I will have to do more research on the history of this building and will let you know if I find out anything! The building now houses The Athenian Restaurant, a very good Greek restaurant. In the window on the right side, it identifies the "Little London Ice Cream Parlor." The owner did this a couple of years ago because she had so many customers coming in asking where the ice cream parlor was. She served a very limited variety of ice cream cones, but only during the summer. It wasn't very profitable, so she only did it for the one summer.
