Long Leaf Pine

When I first came to the area these things jared my sensibilities. Telephone poles masquerading as trees. The more I studied them, I came to realize how majestic they really are. They might be the definitive representation for standing tall. Their needles (the long leaves) provide a soft carpet when walking amongst them and do double duty as mulch for our flower beds.
