Canary in the snow
Very cold last night, minus 9°C, windy this morning as well. I had fed the birds with my usual mix of porridge oats and peanuts, which was well received, and had just gome indoors when a flock of maybe 20 or so Sparrows and Finches arrived. A flash of yellow caught my eye and I saw this Canary among the Finches. He or she seemed to be well integrated, and joined in eating with them. They remained until I had my camera and hunger overcame fear and I managed to get to about 10 yards to take this. Full Tele and lots of cropping, but here we are a Canary in the snow. Hope he manages to survive the next few days and cold nights, maybe it will come back with the flock.
