jeni and the beans

"Broccoli, anchovies and capers...."

"...Really not what I'd choose if I saw that on a menu. Sorry."

Steve's words, as I was cooking.

Ah well. Sorry Jamie O.

I enjoyed it, Ben liked it, but Steve - even though, to his credit, tried it - just didn't like it. So he's sharing his butternut and coconut soup with Ben now instead. Ben likes the soup too.

No word from Kong, I assume he has settled back into nursery ok, Ben seems totally unperturbed at the lack of a grey simian friend hanging around. Spent ages last night trying to write his journal. I really wish I'd had time to at least photograph the pages so that I could blog my entry, but Ben woke up as if on cue as I wrote the last sentence. (Steve found him kneeling up in the middle of our bed, wailing: he'd obviously gone looking for us and assumed we'd be in bed and we weren't - there's nothing worse than things not being where you think they ought to be when you are still half asleep.)

Cold day today. Seriously cold. Was in the office this morning and I swear my toes had turned to ice by the time I left at midday. I couldn't feel them. Popped in to Sainsburys for various bits and pieces en route to picking Ben up from nursery, and saw some wheatie cosy toe slippers - and bought them on impulse as my toes were still frozen!! They did a grand job of warming the toes up when we got home and I got Ben into bed. Bit odd walking around in them, I think you're meant to get a cup of tea and sit down curled up with them on really, rather than start prepping vegetables and putting the shopping away.

I think I'm going to suggest my boss buys a couple of little fan heaters for under the desks in the office.

Still no snow here. I did hear on the forecast that it might snow tomorrow, or at least the weather system is making its way our way, so at this rate I won't be able to drive up into Surrey to get the thinner winter rims for the car before I need them!!
