Athens of the North

View of the Dugald Stewart Monument on Calton Hill in Edinburgh. Dugald Stewart was a prominent Scottish Philosopher in his day who coined the term 'Athens of the North' to describe Edinburgh. The monument is a choragic monument, which was a type of monument that celebrated patrons of drama companies near the theatre of Dionysius in Athens.
