Mountain Cross

The Santa Catalina Catholic Church has an outstanding location with a spectacular background. In the main Sanctuary, there is a large cross suspended over the altar. Behind is a floor to ceiling clear glass window looking out on the mountains. It is most impressive and stimulates ones reflections. (I am not a parishioner, but have attended occasional services.)

Some of the flavor of that setting is captured in this photograph. Today we had a brief rain which brings out sky effects. Later this afternoon the sun was shining under the western clouds onto Pusch Ridge. The cross on a side building was framed by the mountains. This image was created by three captures at 2 stop intervals and resolved in Photoshop's HDR Pro.

Another fun image, which I call 'Bells and Cells' is here.

For those with a scientific bent, an interesting phenomenon was observed today. I saw the most beautiful rainbow and pulled out the camera to shoot. Lo and behold, there was no rainbow in the viewfinder! This disappearance was apparently caused by the polarizing filter which was fitted to the lens. So now the polarizer will be saved for special occasions!
