Crows in the Bosque
Clouds rolled in mid-morning and the wind began to howl. Winter is moving into New Mexico. Hundreds of crows fill the sky. In the cornfields they spook the sandhill cranes. I walked out while the bread was rising and the stock simmering. Dust was blowing into my eyes and the birds struggled against the the winds.
Now the house smells like ciabatta and turkey soup and I am grateful to be indoors. Outside the trees and bending and the leaves are flying.
