Swan rescue at Glasson Dock

Today was to be about landscapes. No swans, ducks, gulls, coots etc.. allowed. All that changed when a lady, carrying three big carrier bags of grain, caught up with me and told me that I needed to become involved in an icebreaker session. I was momentarily confused. As a tutor, an icebreaker session means something completely different and it does not normally involve the use of a big stick, but what could I do other than comply. This poor swan was well and truly stuck in the ice. The women helped the male and 8 signets to free themselves, took them farther up the bank and then left me in charge of this female. She told me to talk / shout to it and entice it with food. Eventually, the swan broke free and it followed me as if I were its best friend.

Thanks to the carrier bag lady, the swans have all been fed, and they should be able to cope with tonight's big freeze.

I got a few landscape photographs but the blip has to be about the swan.
