Rainy day birds

Oakland's Lake Merritt, near downtown is a bird sanctuary and a place where many migrants from northern territories come to spend the late autumn and winter. They don't mind the rain too much, feathers protect them. Some of these do seem to be tucking their heads in their feathers.

This group includes scaups, canvassbacks, pied billed grebes, and ruddy ducks. There are probably some that I'm missing. We also saw western grebes and buffleheads in other parts of the Lake. This is a great spot for a rainy stroll.
