The crab and the urchin...
So, I've not mentioned Octonauts for a couple of days. Don't be fooled. There is still obsession in this house. However, there is also (apparently) education going on, sneakily, under my nose.
We're still at Grandma and Grandad's to celebrate nephew's Birthday (yay cake) and tonight after everyone had gone home I suggested the boys come upstairs with me to read some books before bed. No.1 son went up first and found 2 sneaky bedtime comfort cloths.
As I reached the top of the stairs he said, 'look Mummy, I've got 2 cloths on my arm, that's symbiosis.'
Me: speechless.
Eventually, 'Yes that's right, that's when 2 things live together and both need each other to survive (scraping the bottom of my biology A-level)'
'Yes,' said no.1 son, 'for food or protection!'
More speechlessness....then... 'What else lives together and needs each other?'
Pause...'You and me, Mummy. I need you to look after me and you need me to........ <both parents wait in stunned anticipation> ... you need me to... you need me so you can look after me'
Of course.
It transpires he had been watching the "Octonauts and the Crab and the Urchin" with Daddy last week and the whole concept had been fully explained.
I'm still a smug <annoying> parent though!
Anyway, today is 100. Tra la la. I had some grand plans but life kinda got in the way and even when I was given 2 hours to go shopping this afternoon, I just, well, I just went shopping! So this is Chester Cathedral on a beautiful, crisp, late November Saturday.
I didn't really think I would get this far, so I am pretty chuffed. It's been hard to keep it consecutive and on balance I think I'd have been better off admitting defeat on some days, rather than blipping something I wasn't happy with, but now I'm here there's a satisfaction in having done it this way - warts and all! But I think from now on, I'll just blip when I've got something to show, rather than let it rule my life so completely.
Mr Cleanslate says 'Phew!'
Having said that I'm going to Paris tomorrow with work, so hopefully there'll be something to share!
Thank you all for the support so far (and by that I mean Livesofus and An1ma - you're both complete naturals at this - I'm always in awe!)
