Thousand Palms Oasis

Our daughter is visiting from Long Beach for the Thanksgiving holiday. We took her to visit the Thousand Palms Oasis (see previous entry 9 November) where I captured this image while walking toward the McCallum Oasis. Many, many people were out working off Thanksgiving Day meals, which made for crowded trails. Those who visited were fortunate as a fire consumed much of the Oasis the next day - treasure in the Coachella Valley lost to someone's carelessness!
