This is what Grandads do with their time off. After finishing work today at 1pm I dashed off to watch my super duper grandson Lewis playing football for Wardie Primary School in the Scottish Schools Cup. This was the start of their 2nd match. After drawing the first game they had to win this one. At half time it was 1-0 to Wardie and the coach decided to make some substitutions taking off Lewis and 2 others. Turned out to be a big mistake.....Wardie lost 5-1!!!
To make matters worse 2 mins after this pic was taken the sky darkened and the rain came down to go with the strong winds and it was bitterly cold.
At the end of the game after shaking hands with the winning team, Lewis came off the pitch with tears in his eyes and straight to his Grandad for a hug to make it all better. In that moment we forgot all about the weather and I had a big lump in my throat while trying to console him.
By the way Lewis is in the forefront on the left in the green strip with black arms :-)
