'Car Park'

This is the view from my window of the 'car park' outside the fish markets near our apartments.

There are hundreds of these three wheeled carts going to and fro all day. Some have buckets of live fish.. some frozen fish.. some have other strange and wonderful things that deny description. When I first came to China someone said to me... "Around here, if it can move, they will eat it. If it can't move, they will eat it" It was said as a joke at the time but I have seen some VERY interesting things pass by me on plates whilst sitting eating dinner.

The man in blue on the right of the picture is sharpening a knife or a cleaver. That is his role in life.. Sharpen stuff. Maybe boring to some.. but I am sure he spends a great deal of his time talking with his regular customers. His chair and sharpening stone are portable and he will sit here for a while.. then go to another regular spot. I have seen a few men doing this job so I am sure they even have territories.
