Stonehenge.
After an early start again at Plymouth, I decided to return home by the A303 for a change instead of that awful coast road, the A35. As I neared the turn off for Stonehenge, I thought, is it worth a blip..... Of course, I thought to myself and parked up the van in the car park. Last time I was here, I refused to pay as you couldn't get anywhere near the stones. The time before that, I lived at nearby Larkhill Camp during the latter years of my dads army career. Of course, I even spent a few weeks one summer working at the Stonehenge Cafe.
These days, tourists dont change. At least, those who decide to dig deep can get close to the stones without jumping fences. You can even touch them - if thats what floats your boat. For me, one photograph was all I needed, unlike these hardy souls. I just wanted to get back in the warm van and head down the road.
Once my phone eventually came to life, I received a lovely text from Emsie with the promise of a Chinese Banquet for tea - all the more reason for getting a move on down the road.
