Last Boat Standing

Its been a rather long day today. I knew this morning that is was going to be busy, so I took the chance to nip into the Harbour at Queensferry before going to my parents.

Queensferry has two harbours, one set up as a Naval Base and this one, the local harbour, where all the fishing boats worked from. I spoke to Davie who told me that the red boat, John's boat, was the only one that fished from the harbour now. Eveyone else just used the harbour for leisure. We chatted about how there used to be the fish shop just beside the harbour waiting for the fresh catch of the day.

Queensferry is re-emerging as a great place to eat and has several excellent restaurants. It's sad there are no locals to supply the catch of the day. John has hauled up his creels and won't be out now till the spring, Davie assures me. He reckons it's his last winter with the boat too.

Dad is having a sleep over tonight. We've eaten, chatted, laughed and done the manicure, and pedicure thing. We stopped short of face masks, although we did have a few jelly babies before he went off to bed. No doubt there will be midnight schenanighans.
