Phyllis Diller

I'm not sure whether this will mean anything to you folks in the UK, but there used to be a comedienne on US television called Phyllis Diller. Her signature costume included a wild head of teased out hair, usually white or some shocking color and occasionally adorned with feathers to make it even more fluffy and outrageous.

You will guess why we named this chicken after her.

Phyllis is a crested Buff Laced Polish hen, which is considered a rare breed here. Her eggs are small and plain white, so the main attraction is her sprightly beauty and unusual hairdo.

She keeps us all laughing!
