this is what a cold looks like

i've been feeling poopy for a few days. a couple of my friends are sick, too, but i think we all had different colds and i just keep catching a different one. i'm miserable. this morning i woke up 2 hours before my alarm went off and couldn't fall back to sleep because i was coughing so hard i was making myself gag. so i watched a movie and then fell back to sleep for an hour and a half. then i had to go to work, and now i'm home, cuddling with my new blanket.

my grandma made me that blanket because a couple of weeks ago i was at her house and i told her that one of my roommates in my apartment at school kept turning off the heat and my room was freezing, so i kept turning it back on. it's become a battle. anyway, grandma remembered my complaints and made me a blanket. it's VERY warm and VERY soft and usually i can't wear fleece blankets too much, because i get hot easily, but this one is perfect for the yucky spell i seem to be going through.

plus, grandma was thinking of me when she decided to make it, which is very special to me. it's not often in life i get surprised with sweet, unexpected gifts like that, and i enjoy the love behind the gesture.

it's just crappy, because it's bad timing. i'm leaving to go to california on wednesday for 5 days. i've never been and i'm super excited. i'm meeting an online friend for the first time... and it's just... going to be great and i really don't need this cold dragging me down.

oh well. such is life.
