In March I am traveling to South Africa with my school as part of the global outreach program. We will be working on a project directed at youth in Africa, probably something along the lines of literacy. While I am in South Africa I plan on making a photo journal. This photo journal will relate to the first Millennium Development Goal, eradicating extreme poverty and hunger. In addition, I will be shooting in Toronto as well to compare and contrast the differences and similarities. The objective of this photo journal will be to spread awareness about the need for our intervention in the lives of those living in extreme poverty. I will try to have as many people see my photographs as possible, by putting them on bulletin boards, sending out mass e-mails, putting pictures up around my school etc... I also plan to photoshop my images onto places I wish they could be displayed, ie: covering the walls of a subway station with pictures of those living in extreme poverty.
The reason I'm telling you this is that this week (starting from Nov. 18) I've been focusing my blips/shots on my neighborhood. I've been trying to present related images to give my neighborhood a quiet, erie feeling. This is sort of a mini-photo journal, I'm practicing taking photographs that are of a common theme and selecting the ones that best convey my message.
I'd love to hear and appreciate any feedback or suggestions you guys may have about my blips/"mini photo journal".
Thanks a lot!
