Monday dinner de luxe

A ordered a specific bottle of wine a while back that he got to taste during his work travels, and today we had to taste it! It's from NZ, Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2009, and was said to go well with Paua marinated in limejuice + lemonjuice + fishsauce + a little honey, padded dry, lightly coated in rice flour and lightly pan fried.

Since Sweden doesn't have much paua, we went with scallops instead for the above recipe; we then added a whole bunch of other stuff that was supposed to go well with the wine. My version of shrimp/prawn cocktail (above), (the stuff in the bottom consisting of two avocados in cubes, a finely chopped red onion, yellow bell pepper, about 1 dl of crème fraiche and a tablespoon of Heinz Chili Sauce, seasoned to taste with salt. I also tossed the shrimp in some of the marinade I mentioned before.) a nice bit of tuna also got the marinade treatment and was then sliced and eaten as sashimi, boiled crayfish had a place on the table of course, and green asparagus with some melted butter on top went well with it all.

Needless to say, it was a very satisfactory Monday night dinner :) Wine is awesome by the way!
