The village

I went for a drive up the Matakitaki River tonight in the hopes of spotting some kayakers. None to be seen!

On the way home I stopped and took a few photos. I like this view across the river to Murchison (the village I live in). Our village has a population of approximately 500 and is about 115km from the nearest towns (about equi-distant between Westport on the Westcoast and Nelson). To go to Westport you must negotiate the Buller Gorge, to go to Nelson you cross two mountain ranges - so we are effectively 90 minutes from shopping or professional services.

It's a great place to live!
