The Turra Coo unveiled

It was a big day in Turra today as the new bronze statue of the Turra Coo created by artists David Blyth, Charles Engebretsen and Ginny Hutchison was unveiled by the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond in front of a huge crowd.

The Pipe Band was playing and there was bothy ballad singing with Champion singer Hector Riddell doing a couple of classics including "The far famed fite Turra Coo" and Sheena Wellington did two specially written new Turra Coo-themed ballads.

Next to the statue is a street sign which proclaims "London 577 Aberdeen 35 Lendrum 5".

A new Turra Coo themed Christmas light was also unveiled.
