A Thousand Words

Deaf Characters.

I watched this amazing video tonight about redefining DEAF. Everyone has such negative connotations of what Deaf means - disabled, dumb, naive, partier, on SSI, etc. It's time to become more positive. It's time to redefine with DEAF means. It is so much more that one representation. There is diversity within the terms of Deaf from those who are the bad representation to those that is the true representation - hard-working Deaf people who are proud of their identity, proud of who they are.

This is a particular reason why I love the fact there's a blog out there about Deaf representation in the book-world. It's absolutely nice to know that there are authors out there who give the Deaf people a voice in the written world. These books revolve around Deaf characters as a primary or secondary character.
