After a restless night, today she opened her eyes, showed recognition, and tried to speak a few words, although intelligible through an oxygen mask. After a change of respirator masks, to provide higher pressure oxygen, a multitude of pokes for blood samples, and an EEG, she was resting comfortably in the afternoon. The search for the underlying cause continues. There are preliminary results, but nothing conclusive at this writing. One of the concerns has been to keep blood oxygen at a high level. Lois is in the hands of a very capable staff in a new hospital which is equipped with some very sophisticated machinery.
There are a multitude of electrical sockets on the wall shown in this picture and they are needed to run all the equipment, including a very remarkable electric bed.
Edit: NEWS FLASH! Late Wednesday evening Lois was awake, talking, and watching TV. Hooray!
