I am unsure as to why I didn't realise before now that eating your mushy dinner directly from the tray/table was in fact, the best way to eat. It seems to have only occured to Amelie this evening. Usually we do porridge/ready brek for breakfast - spoonfed by mummy, a rice cake or biscuit or fruit snack - finger fed by Amelie, toast and philly cheese or toast and sugarfree jam or french toast - finger fed by Amelie and then dinner, spoonfed by Daddy. Tonight she had salmon, spinach and cous cous all blended up and although slightly bemused by it, appeared to be enjoying it. Then all of a sudden she discovered a tiny titbit on the tray and that was it, she was a convert to mushing and scooping and spreading and bashing and smearing and eating. Lets hope she's forgotten by tomorrow.
Actually, despite the mess (which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be) I'm thinking this is a good sign - a sign of independance maybe. And good hand eye coordination practice. She did well.
