Frosty start to the day. I haven't quite got in the swing of allowing myself enough time to scrape the car in the mornings yet. I'm used to my car being in a garage, but now it isn't. I'll have to make some room in there to get it in now that winter is here.

Sorry to those who have been asking about more pictures of the kitchen (Jayne and Jan) but there isn't much else to show at the moment - it still looks the same as this but with a bit more mess on the worktops. I am getting near to deciding on the tiles so will be off to buy them soon and then get around to putting them up. White square ones with a border (mosaic?) one tile up. I can't decide on the colour of the walls. I was thinking orange and tried a tester pot out today, but I'm not sure if the strong colour won't make the room look smaller again. So I'm wondering about white (or nearly white) walls for now, with a bit colourful picture on one of them.

I have also bought a silver venetian blind to put up but it's a bit too big so I need to cut it down to fit in the window recess. Unfortunately, the blind I bought doesn't mention about cutting it down to size widthways, just lengthways, so I'm wondering whether a pair of scissors will do the trick rather than buying a proper cutter, although they only cost about £3 from B&Q. Anyone have any experience of this?
