Dylan's Bend

Dylan's Bend spun me spinning towards the sea
To where summer boys jump and cast from the rocks
Towards a circle of light that was beamed
From Heaven into the water
And viewed by lonely men
And old people living in cars up on the grass.

Dylan's Bend curved drunkenly to the wash
To where an older me was vacant at a window
Palm on glass and out of the city
Watching the sheep and gulls and tankers
Perhaps some idiot fool with camera or pen
Trying to capture this in the wind.

6th September 1999 (by November I'd left London for good)
