Pied-billed Grebe

Drove up to Leeds to wish a fellow blipper Happy Birthday, but she wasn't there, so being in the area took the opportunity to go along to Hollingworth Lake Country Park just south of Littleborough in Greater Manchester to see this Pied-billed Grebe.

Spinning the above tale is my attempt to deflect you from the truth that we drove 206 miles taking 3 hours 37, just to see this Pied-billed Grebe. I say we, but Mrs L would like to distance herself from this lunacy, but as there was a lift going thought she might as well come along.

This is the first occurrence of a Pied-billed Grebe in Britain for almost a decade. It is a rare visitor from America as can be seen from gilliebg's blip from Florida. In my book it was well worth the effort of the drive and all the others there armed with telescopes and cameras would heartily agree, however normal folk may beg to differ.

Must be viewed in Large - I insist!

PS Happy Birthday Odey.
