Dunnock
I've had a busy morning, so I decided to chill out in the "garden hide" which is really a shed!
I got some cracking pictures of the nuthatch, great tits, blue tits, coal tits and goldfinches, but the little brown (grey) job wins for today's blip.
Saddled with a rubbish name, the dunnock, has a bit of a history. It was held up as a paragon of virtue at the turn of the century by the church. That turned out to be utterly incorrect, the females have multiple partners, to ensure they have enough males helping bring up the young.
Perhaps then, that's why Dunnock sounds like a bit of an insult .. I much prefer its nickname of Hedge Sparrow.
