Northern Cardinal - the Bird Series continues
The cardinals are year-round residents and this a small male. The females are much duller, sad to say. In the spring and summer, they are the last birds to come to the feeders and can still be seen at dusk. They sing beautifully (both males & females).
As if in a line-up, he posed very cooperatively for me:
Look to the Front
Now to the Side
I wanted to clarify my blip from yesterday about the heated birdbaths (I should have done that initially). They provide drinking water for the birds during the winter, although on a milder day someone might have a splash-about. Thanks for all of your comments!
