The Market Hall clock tower

A very quick blip today.

I have been chasing my tail for the last few days, so this shot was taken on the move as I ran from one place to another. I managed to get most of the tasks on my list completed!

The interior of our historic market hall, which dates back to 1829, was completely gutted by a fire in May 2004. The closure of the market took the heart out of the town. However, since the fire, the exterior of the building has been restored, and the interior has been re-built in a modern style. The restored market hall was re-opened in December 2008.

I used to visit the market with my mother as a very small child, and remember well the stalls she frequented. As a treat, we would stop and buy a cream soda from Nadins stand. The minerals were in old fashioned style cordial bottles, and the soda was added to the cream soda cordial to make a slightly fizzy drink. I remember I could barely see over the counter, even on tiptoes.

All the time that the market was closed, I would still look at it's clock, expecting to see the time, but all I saw was a round void.

It's not the best shot, but I will try to revisit, and do it justice another time.
