Blowing away the cobwebs!
After last night's bonfire party we woke to a beautiful bright sunshine filled morning, with the sea sparkling and the sky blue. I spent the morning baking and cooking and listening to the Remembrance Day service on the radio, with the back door open and Ollie busy with his bone in the garden.
I made a chicken curry for tonight and also a Bread Pudding. I've never made one before and wasn't very sure what it should be like, but the skipper, busy working on his boat, fancied one so I thought I'd give it a go! Basically it's stale bread - I used granary - soaked in milk and beaten egg with masses of dried fruit, some suet and lots of mixed spice then sprinkled with nutmeg and baked. The smell from the oven was wonderfully Christmassy and scented the whole house! It also overpowered the smell of curry - which was a bonus!
This afternoon Ollie and I headed out for a walk to clear the head and nostrils! It was cold and breezy but super if you kept moving! We took Lucas with us and had a wander through the fields and back along the cliff top. Lucas came home as clean as he started, Ollie was black, muddy and stinky! I'm so tempted to clip him again, but I don't have the heart in this weather! A bit of a rub with a soapy old towel and he's now restored to his formed loveliness - it's just there's a bit of an aroma when he gets warm!
