sleep war

Amelie did not want to sleep today. I am not exactly sure why; nothing particularly exciting was happening and she certainly wouldn't have missed anything...except the F1? Maybe that was it. Anyway, she resisted her first nap and when I eventually got her down it was very brief. She point blank refused nap 2 and ended up having her lunch instead. I battled once again after lunch only to end up with nail marks over my chest (note to self, cut Amelie's nails more regularly and especially before trying to cuddle her to sleep) and in the end we lay down on Chris (daddybean) and I's bed and I pretended to sleep. Success!

When she was first born I used to put her down and she would fall asleep by herself. It only took a few months for her to realise that there were far more exciting things to be doing than sleeping and from then on she has fought sleep, and me, every step of the way. Despite the fact I may be making a rod for my own back we now sit on the glider chair precisely 2 hours from when Amelie woke from her last sleep and usually that does the trick. Usually...
