Rememberence Sunday

I've posted a blog piece about a memory of this day that I have. I also think it was a good deal easier when I was young - no ambiguity about what we were celebrating; the sacrifice made by the men and women who defended these islands as we stood alone against the tyranny and barbarism of Hitler's Germany. Now it's a lot less clear; Britain has been involved, and is still involved, in conflicts based on morally ambiguous decisions but we should still remember those prepared to risk everything for their country.

To save your world you asked this man to die: Would this man, could he see you now, ask why? Auden's "Epitaph for the Unknown Soldier".
