Final wash and brush-up
The restorers were out early finishing off the repairs to the stonework in time for tomorrow's Remembrance Day parade. I will try and Blip it, as it is a very colourful and moving ceremony, but rain is forecast.
Here is how the statues looked before they were cleaned and repatinated. Today the memorial looks very much as it did when it was unveiled in 1921, including the green turf rather than the red and white roses we are used to. Apparently small flower beds will be cut into the turf so that different displays can be planted throughout the year.
