After hours

Spent quite a bit of the day wrestling with the internet today. Calendars are proofed and ready to go but I couldn't get the file uploaded to the printers - not having a successful time with technology just now.

Update on the external hard drive situation: tried the two suggestions kindly sent by Cyclops from his Red Sea Retreat, to no avail. Still comes up as unreadable or corrupted. Getting a bit more worried now as the final assessment for the T189 isn't too far off. Still Cyclops is home soon, fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

I didn't write anything for yesterday's blip, I hope it spoke for itself, but I was interested by the reaction of the soldiers I spoke too.

When I asked f I could take a photo of their feet they looked puzzled but laughed & asked why, when I explained they were only too happy to help. Pleased, I think, that someone was taking time to document the day. Then I showed them the pictures which triggered some debate about how they could be improved and what they "meant".

It was one of the soldiers' idea to put the poppy in the water, I was reluctant because I thought it might be seen as disrespectful, but this was his answer . . . the poppy represents the fallen, and we lay poppies to remember them, the soldier's feet represent the present day, his reflection represents those who have gone before. The water represents emotion, the calm after the battle, but also the passing of time and healing.

There was more, but I just wanted to share that with you, what did I learn? In many cases, what you see is definitely not what you get.
