Arbutus

I'm having trouble with the Internet tethering here at the island so this will be short. Have to use the iphone ( but the photo was taken with my canon). Very glad to be here tho - I'm feeling the calm already.

This is our pnw arbutus tree with red berries. It has white flowers in the spring. It is a different species of arbutus from the Mediterranean one that amalarian has blipped, called the strawberry tree. Freespiral also blipped her arbutus from the west coast of Ireland - it's the same as the mediterranean strawberry tree. I finally got it straight- one learns so many things on blip! The ones on the west coast of Canada and the US (called madrona there) are bigger so it was hard to find some berries close enuf to shoot.
