Handsome Boy

We have internet! YAY!

Got loads done today at work - all my 8 week probation reviews are written up, and half of the meetings completed :-D

Wednesday is my early finish day, so i was home for three, and at Cosmeston Lakes by 4 :-D Wanted to try to get to grips more with the new lens. This handsome chap is the best of the lot. I'd spent a while photographing squirrels in trees, but couldn't get any without too many distracting branches :( A nice lady who saw I was photographing them silently pointed out one at ground level. I took a few shots, but it was so dark in the wooded bit where he was, that I had to adjust the ISO. By the time I did that, he'd already gone. This is one of the things I'm learning about the longer lens, and I guess it should be fairly obvious: successful shots do not rely on the light where the photographer is, but rather where the subject is!

The other shots I took weren't great, but some were decent enough to give me an opportunity to play with RAW & photoshop :-D

In other news, a couple of students must've thought I looked like I knew what I was doing, as they asked for help with the settings on their camera. They explained the teacher had set it, but they didn't really know what they were doing and all the pictures were coming out blurry. It was a nice Nikon, and I didn't have a clue about how to change any of the settings. However, I managed to save face... when the lad showed me a few images and said he thought it was the shutter speed I said "It shouldn't be that... have you got the auto-focus on?" He flicked a switch to take it off Manual Focus and laughed heartily. They probably both think I'm some kind of photographic genius now - they have no idea that there wasn't a Plan B!
