Inkcaps
After yesterday's rain, the weather today was much better and I managed to take the dogs out. Unfortunately all the soils round us are heavy clay, which quickly turns to a slippery sludge, so I slithered and slid my way round the Boardwalks.
Although there was a bit of weak sunshine, the strong north-easterly breeze meant it felt very cold. Despite this, there were still wasps sipping nectar from the ivy blossom. There were also some interesting fungi about. A large fallen willow had swarms of warm-brown inkcaps, probably Coprinella micacea. I love these, as they form a beautiful repeating pattern and have such delicate veins.
